Utilise older Cinema Displays on MacBook models from 2013 – 2017
Here is just a super quick guide on how to connect an older Cinema Display to a MacBook model from 2013 – 2017.
To begin with, you need to have a Magsafe 2 adapter, and a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Turn on your MacBook and connect your wireless keyboard and mouse to it.

Put your MacBook to Sleep by clicking on the apple logo in the top left hand corner of the screen and selecting sleep, your MacBook screen will now go blank, you can now shut the lid.

Next plugin the cables from your Cinema display to your MacBook, these will go into the USB port the Thunderbolt and the Charging port respectively, since the charging cable end from the old display is outdated this is where the Magsafe 2 adapter is needed, connect the Cinema Display charger cable to the Magsafe 2 adapter and then connect it to the charging port of the MacBook.

Lastly either click the mouse or press any key on your keyboard and the Cinema Display will turn on and you are good to go!

It is worth noting however that sometimes the Cinema Display will not turn on after pressing a key or clicking the mouse, if this happens simply unplug all the cables and turn the MacBook back on, then restart your MacBook and start again from step one.
