Waste Cooking Oil 2D Animation
Background
Ethicoil Group is an internationally accredited group that specialises in recovering and recycling waste cooking oil for the full spectrum of food catering and production sectors.
As a business, you are required to discard waste oil in an appropriate vessel which has a secure lid and then have it collected by a certified waste oil collector, failure to do so could result in heavy fines and prosecution.
That’s where Ethicoil Group come in, their friendly team provide a simple waste cooking oil collection service which works with your schedule, but they take it one step further by giving the oil a second life and reducing your carbon footprint. They are proud to say that 100% of the waste oil collected is used in the production of renewable energy!
The Task
Ethicoil Group came to Painting Pixels with the hope of a concise 2D animation to capture the highlights of what they offer and the magic within their company, and that’s what they received!
Ethicoil Group wanted this 2D animation to explain their services, which include collecting and dropping off cooking oil, but also the process after. They wanted to show how they use waste cooking oil in the production of renewable energy in a way that the average person would understand. 2D animations always offer a simple explanation of the businesses service and this shows potential clients that individuals are able to understand their buisness in a quick, interesting and memorable manner.
Process
The 2D animation process started out as all 2D animations do, with the idea of what needs to be communicated and how this will be converted into a concise script, stripped back to the simplest form with only necessary information.
Once decided on a 7 scene script, which goes into detail about each stage of the Ethicoil Groups service, we then make changes in accordance with the client’s wishes. The next step is bringing the script to life.
To do this, we choose a voiceover artist from our library who best fits the animation and they would then record the script for us.
After the voiceover, we really start to visualize the animation and how it’s going to look. This is where we create the storyboard, it gives us a visual representation of what is going to be in each scene. The development of this is very dependent on the client, it can be a rough or professional sketch- it’s completely up to the client. This project only required a basic storyboard.
Once the preparation is done, it’s time for production! Our team of talented artists then start on the animation; the Adobe suite is crucial in this process, especially Adobe After Effects, as this software package allows for bespoke graphics, which are key to making the animation so unique.
Once completed, it is sent to the client and we are ready to make any changes desired as we are so dedicated to creating what they wish! The animation will then be altered until it is perfect, once we reach perfection, we get ready to publish for the world to see. The process is then complete!
Result
After all of the changes have been made and confirmed, the content is posted to any social media platforms chosen.
Ethicoil Group were extremely happy with the end result, as were we; we learnt so much about their company and how they are contributing to the climate change crisis. Cooking oil wastage isn’t often spoken about and it was so beneficial for us to be taught the subject; to be educated on this problem, head over to Ethicoil Group’s pages to find out about animation among many other things!
Overall, Painting Pixels thoroughly enjoyed this project and loved working with Ethicoil Group themselves!
