3D Plane Animation for TV Advert

Roger.com Casino Slots and Bingo Site 3D Plane Animation

Background

Partnering with our good friends at Stone Productions, we worked together to produce a photorealistic 3D Animation for Roger.com, an online casino and bingo website. This advert would be used for TV Advertising, calling attention to their services and helping gain traffic and new customers.

The Task

The goal of this project was to create a photorealistic 3D animation of a custom-designed Airbus A320 commercial airliner, fit with a bespoke livery, flying through the clouds with 3D casino and bingo icons falling and raining down. It would require volumetric clouds, custom-built 3D models and textures, as well as carefully coordinated camera work in order to bring the vision that we had to life!

The advert would also require video inserts of an actor in a pilot scene, which we worked in collaboration with Stone Productions to produce, providing all of the 3D scenes needed for the backgrounds of these shots. Finally, a talented voice-over artist was needed for the air traffic control role.

Finally, the video would require video editing and motion graphics to finalise the advert into a viewable clip ready to be viewed on TVs across UK living rooms!

Process

After the project brief and specifications, it was time to begin the conception stage of the design of the 3D plane model and composition as a whole, through sketched concept storyboard slides, in which we worked with the clients to produce the best method of delivering the advert and all of it’s visual features to the best possible quality.

After the rough storyboards were carefully reviewed and approved, and the client was happy with our direction, we could move onto a higher quality concept design of what the final advert may look like. We created two design styles, one being in daytime with flat 2D icons, and the other being in dusk with golden 3D icons.

Eventually, with communication between us and the client, we decided on a daytime scene with 3D icons from the second scene, but while retaining the icon colours of the first concept.

After this crucial design style was determined, the 3D plane animation was ready to begin production.

Once the final models, volumetric clouds, textures, lighting, and animation keyframes were set up, we were ready to hit render and export the final scene into animation.

After the render process was complete, we entered the post-production stage of the project, in which we expertly enhanced the aesthetics and photorealism of the animation, by adding motion blur, colour-grading, depth of field, as well as other tweaks to make the animation stand out.

We also added the 2D motion graphics for the branding and text, to finalise the visuals of the advert.

Result

The first version of the Roger.com 3D Plane TV Advert was ready to be viewed, after being composited in with a voice over and actor-shots. This version of the Advert featured all casino slots and bingo icons, and focused on the advert as a whole. Both we and the clients were super happy with the final result!

But we weren’t done there… They needed another alternative version of just Bingo icons, with a new voiceover, for use on Daytime TV, as mentions of gambling are not allowed before certain times due to UK TV Advertising laws.

So we began production a new version for them! Here is the final result:

It was also extremely satisfying to be enjoying time in our living rooms, watching TV, when suddenly we would see our hard work pay off when the advert aires on screen, during ad breaks on regular TV channels. Just knowing this amazing animation has reached hundreds of thousands of UK TV screens is extremely enjoyable!

As you can see, the advert was a great success, and the clients have been reporting a huge growth of their business since the advert’s airing. We were so happy to be a crucial part of helping this advert come to life!

    3D Explainer Animation for Trade Show

    Interactive Real-time Car App

    Fantastic Technology and Vision! We are a company which uses that latest in modern technology and design to create our extraordinary super cars. We needed a way to demonstrate particular features and to demonstrate also how specific features like the unique door system would open. Originally we were going to go for a standard 3D animation as we did not know about the 4d technology. We searched around for many different 3d design companies and Painting Pixels quality of work caught our eye. After a detailed meeting we were delighted to learn that they can offer exactly what we actually wanted which was indeed 4D animation. They created an Application for us which allowed us to rotate our new super car with the mouse which meant that we could precisely see how the car looks from every angle.     Way better than we had imagined! We needed a 3D animation which would clearly demonstrate a unique dredging process and wanted to showcase this at an exhibition.
