EuSalt- The Perfect De-icing Solution!
Background
Eusalt, the association of crystallised salt producers, is located around 18 different countries in Europe and beyond. Europe is the 2nd largest salt producer in the world and Eusalt makes up 77% of that.
Their mission is to promote the variety of salt uses, highlight the benefits of salt and contribute to major debates by providing facts and guidance.
Their vision is to be an authoritative voice within the salt industry in Europe, by doing this, they will be able to educate and communicate the values and benefits of salt.
They have 4 key priorities that they focus on: food, circular economy, safety and environment.
All countries need good infrastructure to be successful, this includes a good system for roads, cycle tracks and footpaths to allow a steady flow of cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles. When these networks are paralysed by snow or ice, many services are severely impacted, which also compromises public safety.
Having a winter maintenance strategy is key, therefore de-icing these networks is essential. Salt is crucial in this process as it lowers the freezing temperature, helping to melt the snow or ice. It has many benefits including being easy to store, only needing a small dose to be successful and it is found abundantly around Europe, meaning it doesn’t need to be transported in unlike many other materials.
Not only is salt a cost-effective method, but it also doesn’t damage the roads which is a major benefit. Using salt as a de-icer has a major positive effect on the environment which is currently being destroyed by various other issues.
The Task
Eusalt came to Painting Pixels with quite a big project in mind, they requested this 2D animation but also 5 shorter 2D animations and 5 infographics to go alongside the animations. You can browse both the shorter animations here and the infographics here.
EuSalt, trusted us with this project as we create 2D animations that are concise, interesting and straight to the point. They wanted to communicate how useful salt is in the de-icing solution.
We were so excited to get started on this project as there were multiple components to it! We started off with the master 2D animation- The Perfect Solution To De-icing.
Process
As all 2D animations start, we started with an idea. Once the idea has been created we get started on the script, we work closely with the client here to make sure we are going in the direction they wish. When a first draft has been completed we go back and forth with the client making any changes they desire.
Now we have a base, we start bringing the animation to life, after a scroll through our voiceover artist library, we choose one which is best suited to the project.
It’s now time for the doodle board, this is incredibly important in order for our artists to see what’s going to go into each scene. It essentially just visualises the animation so it is easier for the artist to see what’s planned, this project only needed a rough sketch for the storyboard as we have worked with these clients many times and was made primarily for our artists.
It is now production time! Once the doodle board has been given the green light from the client, our team of amazing artists gets started. They use Adobe After Effects to do this, this allows for the personalised graphics which really differentiate it from a standard animation.
Once production is completed, we render this and allow the clients to come back with any changes they wish for, it is then refined until it is perfect!
Result
Once we reach perfection, it is ready to be posted on social media platforms to get your message out there. The project is then complete!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed working with Eusalt on this incredible project, not only did we learn more about de-icing and salt, we got to work with an incredible team over at Eusalt!
Make sure to check out our infographics and short 2D animations which goes alongside this!
